Little Crake

Crex pusilla

A little species of plainer dress and equal rarity, the Little Crake has been met only at intervals in counties south of Yorkshire between March and October, with none recorded in Scotland or Ireland. Its head and upper parts are oil-green with a white patch varied by black on the middle of the back and white scapular markings but none on the wing-coverts, the lower parts bluish-grey, and bill, legs, and feet deep green.
