Hybrid between a Lion and a Tigress

A hybrid between a lion and a tigress, exhibited at Edinburgh in 1827, was whelped in December but lived only a short while, perhaps owing to the inclement season. Its colour was brighter than the lion’s and the bands better marked than in true young; a second instance occurred at Windsor from an Asiatic lion and a gentle tigress, the cubs fostered by bitches and a goat, yet all died before reaching maturity.
