Silver Pheasant

Phasianus nycthemerus

One of the most powerful pheasants, a match for a game cock, this bird has a large naked vermilion space about the eyes, an ample crest of glossy purplish-black, and throat and underparts of the same deep tint. The rest of the plumage is pure white diagonally streaked with black to a wavy pencilled effect; native to northern China and hardy, it is a beautiful ornament to aviaries.
