Guazupuco-Deer

Mazama paludosa

Nearly as large as the European stag, this South American deer of the lower districts of Paraguay has a large muzzle and a general reddish-bay colour, save for the insides of the ears, the lower breast, and the inner limbs, which are white. The forehead and face bear a broad dark stripe that runs irregularly down each side of the lips, relieved by paler tints upon the eyebrows and cheeks.
