Microglossus aterrimus

One of the largest of the Psittacidae, equalling or surpassing the Red and Yellow Maccaw, native to Papua, Waigeoa, New Guinea, and other eastern Australian islands. The bill is very large with a long acute tip overhanging a small weak under mandible, the orbits and cheeks bear naked red wrinkled skin, and the wholly black plumage is glossed greenish-grey by a powdery substance, while its habits remain unknown.
