Crimson-Crowned Weaver

Euplectes flammiceps

A rare and apparently new weaver of Senegal, nearly as beautiful as its kin and coloured with the same scarlet and black tints, distinguished by the black enveloping the chin rather than reaching the front. The wings and their covers, both above and beneath, are entirely black, the nearly even tail black and fully an inch longer than its covers, while the thighs and basal under tail-covers are buff.
