Callithrix sciureus

A common native of Brazil and Cayenne, often kept in confinement by the natives, this beautiful little animal is scarcely ten inches long with a tail of thirteen or fourteen. The upper body is greenish-yellow shading to grey on the limbs, the feet and fore-arms reddish chestnut, the underparts nearly white, the flesh-coloured face with a darker muzzle; playful and good-tempered, it never uses its tail for support.
