Striated Monkey

A clean-looking favourite that grows playful and familiar, this little monkey has a body of about eight inches and a tail above eleven, the fur a grayish-olive darker on the head and shoulders, the lower back and tail ringed with pale grey, and two conspicuous tufts of grayish-white hair springing round each ear. It eats almost anything, fruits, seeds, insects, and small birds; it breeds in confinement, the affectionate male helping carry the young.
