Wild Dog of Natolia
Thous acmon
The wild dog of Natolia, often mistaken for a country dog, measured about seventeen inches at the shoulder and two feet eight inches long, with a sharp-nosed head, broad flat forehead, small triangular ears, and a short tail ringed black and rust. From nostrils to between the forelegs the colour is white, the rest a hoary fawn-coloured grey, with a crisped streak of upstanding hair from nape to tail; the natives call it the Great Jackal.
