Dun-Footed Aguara Dog

Dusicyon fulvipes

The dun-footed aguara dog is two feet long with a nine-inch tail and stands ten inches high, of stout body and short limbs, the short tail ending in an abrupt full tuft tipped sooty black, the harsh fur hoary mixed with black down the back. The head is fulvous grizzled with hoary, the muzzle and chin dusky, the ears short and chestnut brown; Mr Darwin discovered it in Chiloe, where it showed surprise yet made no attempt to escape.
