Lyciscus cagottis

The Caygotte of the Mexican Spaniards measures about twenty-four inches at the shoulder, resembling a common wolf but with shorter muzzle and ears and a rather long robust body, the nose, cheeks, and limbs buff and the forehead, neck, and back a clear grey. Reckoned a fierce wolf the size of a hound, it is brownish rusty grey, sometimes dark brown with a white-tipped tail.
