Armed Monocentris

Monocentris cornutus

A singularly formed fish of very harmless habits and no elegance, its exterior covered with strong rough plates and an array of blunt spines upon the upper and under surfaces, rendering it an unsatisfactory mouthful to the most voracious. It is a native of the Japanese seas, far from common, with little known of its economy, its spines only about ten inches in length.
