Feral Dog of St. Domingo

Canis Haitensis

A feral hound of Haiti, descended from Spanish war-dogs lost in the woods, standing some twenty-eight inches at the shoulder with a wire-haired terrier’s head, light brown eyes, small pointed ears, deep chest, and a uniform pale blue-ash hide bearing short coarse hair. Inoffensive yet imperious, it followed a scent in silence with great rapidity and seized its quarry, while kindred feral troops on the Pampas, the Perros zimarrones, hunted calves and foals and proved irreclaimable when taken old.
