Port Natal Sun-Bird

Nectarinia Natalensis

A very beautiful species from near Port Natal, with a rich bluish-green coronal patch on forehead and crown, a golden-green gular patch on chin and throat bordered by maxillary stripes, and the upper parts a deep velvety umber-brown with a violet patch at the bend of the wing. The neck and breast are brilliant scarlet waved with violet, the remaining under parts very deep blackish-brown, the feet and bill black, the length within a tenth of six inches.
