Niger Carmelite Sun-Bird

Nectarinia Stangerii

A species from the Niger expedition, five inches one-tenth long, near the Carmelite Sun-bird but with green frontal and gular patches instead of violet and no axillary tufts, the whole plumage of velvety texture like the Amethyst-throated. The upper parts are deep yellowish umber-brown showing yellow and greenish lights, the forehead scale-like deep green edged with violet, the chin velvety-black and the green gular patch tipped with steel-blue and scarlet, with deep green maxillary stripes.
