Red-Breasted Sun-Bird
Nectarinia pulchella
A species of Senegal and Southern Africa, common about Senegal and Sierra Leone, the male rich golden-green above and below, more intense on crown, throat and breast, with a bright yellowish carmine red collar across the breast shading to gamboge, the wings and tail black. Its length to the long feathers is six inches two-tenths; a changing male shows the centre tail-feathers worn to their shafts, the upper parts hair-brown and the under parts yellowish white.
