Nectarinia Hodgsonis

A fine species named for the naturalist of Nipaul, known from a single mutilated specimen five and a half inches, the long tail-feathers about three inches, the crown, nape and two narrow moustaches rich steel-blue with violet-purple and pink, repeated on the rump and the broadened, disconnected central tail-feathers. The back and scapulars are dark reddish chestnut inclining to blood-red, the centre back deep black, the chin, throat and breast very deep black, the vent greenish grey.
