Little Violet-Banded Sun-Bird

Nectarinia parvula

A small species rather less than its near ally, between three and a quarter and three and a half inches, with bronzed green crown, neck and back, a violet forehead, steel-blue tail-coverts and a black, green-margined tail. Beneath, the chin is black, the neck bluish green ending in a distinct violet band with black angular patches at the breast, the remaining parts light king’s-yellow and the axillary tufts bright orange-yellow.
