Canada Lynx

Felis canadensis

The Canada Lynx is a thickset, short-tailed, short-eared lynx with very thick long fur, hoary and white-tipped above with blackish-brown on crown and back, the ears tufted black. The only species north of the Great Lakes and east of the Rockies, it is a timid creature preying chiefly on the American hare, making a poor fight and easily killed; it bounds straightforward, swims well, breeds once a year with two young, and yields white, tender, flavourless flesh.
