Black Puma
Felis nigra
The Black Puma is known only from a few specimens, entirely of a deep glossy black, about thirty-three and a half inches in body with a tail near thirteen. Three brought living to Greenock had striking pale greenish-blue eyes contrasting with their dark fur, and proved extremely ferocious, a temper perhaps owing to ill usage during the voyage and a diet wholly of animal food.
