Clangula histrionica
A chastely varied duck of black and white warmed with chestnut-red and grey, bearing a white patch at the base of the bill, a black-bordered white collar, a crescented breast band, and chestnut flanks. Once obtained in Scotland and Orkney with occasional English examples, it is chiefly a North American bird, breeding in the Bay of Fundy under bushes near water and by inland lakes in Newfoundland and Labrador.
