Painted Partridge

Perdix picta

Perdix picta, a very beautiful true partridge of the plains of India, has its crown brown with yellowish white margins, the face pale brownish orange, and the neck, breast, and flanks spotted with black and yellowish white. The back and wings are deep brown with round white spots, the rump barred black and white, the tail brownish black with narrow white bars, and the vent deep orange brown, though little is known of its habits.
