Perdix petrosa

Perdix petrosa belongs to a small group of partridges remarkable for the showy markings of the flanks, with regular plumage, red bill and legs, and tarsi sometimes spurred. It inhabits the most southern countries of Europe into Spain, the African coast, the Gambia, and Teneriffe, delighting in rocky precipices and seldom straying to the plains, and is distinguished by a deep chestnut patch on the sides of the neck relieved by clear white spots.
