Broad or Fan-Tailed Shaker

Columba var. tremula latecauda

A curious domestic variety whose tail may bear upwards of forty feathers, which both sexes can erect and spread like a turkey-cock while trembling or shaking, particularly when courting. Small and short-billed with pendant wings and naked feet, it is not very prolific, flies awkwardly through the weight of its unwieldy tail, and appears commonly white, or white with black head and tail, or coloured upon mantle and tail.
