Blue-Capped Turteline

Ptiliopus monachus

A beautiful little species of the Celebes, not exceeding seven inches in length and inferior in size to its purple-crowned relative, with habits otherwise little known. The forehead, crown, mouth-corners, and a large patch upon the abdomen are brilliant Berlin blue, a band of king’s-yellow crosses the eyes and occiput, the chin, throat, and vent share that colour, the rest grass-green, and the toes are crimson.
