Blue and Green Turteline

Ptiliopus cyno-virens

A native of the evergreen equatorial forests of New Guinea, where its frequent low cooings betray its abundance, barely exceeding eight inches in length. The upper body, wings, tail, and sides are bright grass-green, the occiput marked with an indigo-blue bar that also tints the scapulars, the abdomen white, and the toes rich orange-yellow; the female lacks the blue occipital spot and scapular markings.
