Wild Boar (Female & Young)

Sus scropha

Generally a brownish black with long hair about the head and mane, the adult stands from twenty to thirty inches at the shoulder, occasionally far higher, while the young are pale yellowish brindled with yellowish brown. Once an inhabitant of British forests and still abounding on the continent and in India, it lives solitary in retired woods, sallying at evening to feed chiefly on roots, fruits, and grain.
