Babiroussa

Sus babiroussa

A rather handsome animal remarkable for greatly developed tusks, which project from both jaws and curve in a circular turn on each side of the nose, the upper pair piercing the muzzle and nearly forming a ring. Greyish on the sides and fawn on the belly, thinly clothed with long hard hair, it abounds in the Molucca Islands and neighbouring parts of the Indian Archipelago, taking to the sea freely and swimming between islands when hunted.
