Blainville’s Piked Dog-Fish

Spinax Blainvillii

A native of the Italian shores, long confounded with the Linnaean piked dog-fish and distinguished chiefly by the relative proportion of its different parts, seldom exceeding two feet in length. It belongs among those fishes armed with strong rounded spines near the dorsal fins, by which a wound may possibly be given designedly.
