Schomburgk’s Tetragonopterus
Tetragonopterus Schomburgkii
A species of much interest for its colouring and the development of its fins, caught in the Rio Negro in April, feeding on fruits and swallowing sand, with small adhesive scales and a spine before the dorsal. Pale olive on the head with three black spots below the large yellow eye, greyish blue above shading through white to pale yellowish green, it bears a remarkable oval black mark across the body centre and a largely developed dark green anal fin.
