Chestnut-Bellied Doras

Doras castaneo-ventris

About seven inches long, with a depressed head, small forward-placed eyes shielded by a spined moveable process, and cirrhi reaching the pectoral insertion, its strong granulated buckler carries twenty-eight costal plates spined throughout and meeting along the back. Of a uniform deep brown with a yellowish-white lateral spiny line, its clouded fins and pale-banded tail appear in the coloured drawing as deep greenish blue relieved by near-white.
