Striped Platystoma

Platystoma tigrinum

A delicious and beautiful fish abounding in most rivers of Guiana, with elongated body, hard cranium, and a long flat deeply serrated snout, its yellowish flesh well-flavoured like the tiger-fish. The body is light blue streaked with black and white, the fins blue spotted with black, and the belly white; oval eyes sit near the middle of the head, the teeth are fine, and it is taken by hook or arrow and much esteemed by the Indians.
