Long-Snouted Centrarchus

Centrarchus?? rostratus

Taken in the Rio Negro in February, this prettily marked long-snouted Centrarchus has single rows of teeth, large elliptical scales, and a rather lengthened mouth and snout with even jaws. The upper colour is clear olive shading to silvery below, the tail olive with indigo at the base; reddish-orange blotches mark the space between pectoral and ventral fins, a black spot sits on the preopercle angle, and two large oval black spots cross the body.
