Guavina of Tacarigua
Erythrinus guavina
Procured in Lake Valencia or Tacarigua at 220 toises elevation, this Guavina is an extremely voracious fish about twenty inches long, with pointed tricuspid-seeming teeth, a loose fleshy membrane beneath the throat, and large round loosely imbricated olive scales. Its colours are a silvery yellow with green fins barred narrowly and transversely with a darker shade; it is said to be the prey of a large Saurian reptile the natives call Bava.
