Rimau-Dahan

Felis macrocelis

The Rimau-Dahan of Sumatra is a large cat of some five and a half feet, much of that the long, full tail, with whitish-grey ground almost free of yellow and marked by broad, irregular bands and spots edged behind in velvet-black. Strong-limbed yet gentle, it lives much among the trees, sleeping stretched across forked boughs and feeding on birds, poultry, and small deer, proving in confinement remarkably playful and good-tempered, like a domestic kitten.
