Double-Crested Pigeon

Columba dilopha

A curious species of interior New Holland, also found in Java, distinguished by a double crest, one of long recurved feathers upon the forehead and bill, another decumbent upon the occiput, and nearly equalling the Chestnut-shouldered Pigeon at almost eighteen inches. The frontal crest is bluish-grey tinged rufous, the occipital reddish-brown, the back deep bluish-grey, the under plumage grey, the bill rich orange, and the toes crimson-red.
