Salt’s Antelope

Neotragus Saltiana

First noticed from imperfect specimens brought from Abyssinia by the British Consul Mr Salt and named in his honour, Salt’s Antelope stands only about thirteen inches at the shoulder, with limbs of great delicacy. The forehead, where the hair lengthens backward, and the outsides of the limbs are reddish-brown, the forelegs spotted with whitish, while the neck and sides are grey and the lower parts nearly pure white; the male alone bears horns, about three inches in length.
