Koodoo

Strepsiceros koodoo

A large beautiful animal combining characters of sheep, oxen and antelopes, the male nearly four feet high and eight feet long, of buff-grey with a white spinal line crossed by several others and white over the orbits, a black forehead, and ridges of black hair along the neck and dewlap. Its horns rise from the skull crest in large spiral whorls nearly four feet long, and it inhabits the woody parts of Caffraria and the Karoo Mountains.
