A volume quite in the French manner is the Versi Sciolti di Tre Eccellenti Moderni Autori. This is set in a delicate old style character, very much leaded, and though the presswork as careless, the light effect of its type and the use of fanciful copper-plate decorations make it quite attractive—if it be not too critically examined. This open style of composition foreshadowed the coming fashion for lighter types; but the book was printed at Venice by Modesto Fenzo as early as 1758.
